Just thought I would share this neat coin before it goes to auction!

It goes against everything I collect but I really like it.
Make sure and post the link as I am sure I am not alone in wanting to take a whack at it.

Haha Bobby, I didn't condone it, just sharing it.
I'll be sure to post a link but it could get a bit pricey, since I'm putting up a lot of 39 total, this is my favorite though.

That looks like a vintage enameling, much more artistic than the modern paint jobs. I consider it as something along the lines of a love token- an alteration of a coin but still perfectly collectible in its own right

Yep, it is vintage enameling, not the paint as you mentioned.

Putting my antique dealer hat on, I can appreciate this lot and I think that these are neat. As long as there weren't any key dates, no problem. I believe they are worth more enameled. They appear to be crafted from some in the Victorian era and it is my best guess that they generally are worth more enameled than not in this case than circulated common coins. I do see a lot of damaged chips etc. but as a lot, they are certainly worth more than the silver alone.

Enameled coins in fairly good condition can go for anywhere from $50.00 to several hundred depending on the day.
Yes, many of those are chipped, but I tried my best to separate them in the listing.

That auction does look like it may get quite pricey. I will be interested if it gets the reserve you are seeking. Good Luck, interesting collection!

Yep, it does have a high reserve, but I'm hoping this auction will bring the serious collectors out of the woodwork. Its also listed on the UK site :P

Wonderful lot. Great pieces, I'm watching it.
Hopefully I'll still be in the running at the end, but I doubt it.

I usually think these paint jobs (at least the modern ones I've seen) look very trashy, but the one you posted is quite lovely! I haven't checked out the auction lot yet, but now I'm looking forward to seeing the rest Good luck with your sale!

Every time I see this coin, I think I'm having a flashback from that Dead show in '78! "The colors, man, the colors!" Really, although this is not my thing, it is well done, and I hope it gets you some bank!

I think you might want to somehow include the word cloisonne in the description, it might get you some non coin collector interest as well.
