If you were to invest in a Morgan dollar that appears to be an under dog in value compared to the amounts minted ( i.e: 1881 CC, 1885 CC, 1899, etc ) on plans of holding on to it for more than 5 years, which would it be. Which do you feel has the most upward potential?
Rest in Peace

I would say 1885CC.

I would lean towards 8TF 1878-P's, and coins appearing on the Elite Clashed Morgans list. Although many current low-demand, low-mintage dates have an obvious upside, the real growth potential lies in the varieties. Your 1885-CC (which is a good call) only appreciates if demand grows; if demand grows, then demand for varieties grows. It's the variety collectors who have both the disposable income and the will to drive record values.

Being a collector and not so much an investor, the one I would pick would be the one I don't yet have...
