I was told this coin is in Unusual Coins and I was hoping someone could provide the market value for an auction that's happening in about an hour.

It's a 1984 SWITZERLAND 50 Francs Oberhasli Shooting Festival Silver Crown

Any help would be super!

Thanks so much,

Jennifer

If anyone has the time, can you also let me know Krause's market value for:

1986 SWITZERLAND 50 Francs Appenzell Silver Proof
&
1985 SWITZERLAND 50 Francs Altdorf Silver Proof

They're all in Unusual Coins.

Thanks In Advance,

Jennifer

Krause values the one pictured at $45 UNC, $65 BU. The other two are valued at $150 PRF and $85 PRF respectively. Keep in mind, though, that Krause prices are really only a 'ball-park' figure at best. If you're interested in shooting medals and talers, there are several nice reference books out there that give the weight, diameter, metal content and mintage (when known).

Thanks, RHM.

The '87 went for $104 (got that last week- it's a beautiful coin- nearly flawless with COA)

The '86 went for $$68 (I was the second highest bidder- had noticeable toning on obverse)

The '85 went for $98 (I didn't know the MV at the time and did not bid- coin looked perfect)

And the '84 went for $47 (I was the highest bidder- don't know if it's UNC or BU- looks great)

No problem. It sounds like you got some nice coins at nice prices! I don't much care for these modern shooters, but the mintages are exceedingly low. I think the largest mintage for a post-1939 shooting taler is something like 5,000. If you'd like a convenient reference for these, try the Muenzen Katalog from Switzerland. They can be purchased online for an affordable price (about $10), and it includes all Swiss coins from the mid-1700s on (including shooting talers). Unlike most such references, MK is written in German, French and English and priced in Swiss francs, so the value is almost identical to U.S. dollars. Good luck!
