I can't find a reference for a fair price for a 1938D/D Buffalo, graded by PCGS at MS 66. The coin looks great but is this a fair price? The ask price is $95.00. Thanks.

Maybe a tad high. Heritage results for similar coins range from $56-94 in the last year (all PCGS MS66), although the trend is to the upper end of that range. Retail asking prices are in line with your number. You're not getting taken to the cleaners; it's a personal decision as to whether you're willing to wait and hope for a bargain. If it's nice at the grade I'd pay $95 for one.

The PCGS Price Guide prices apply only to PCGS-graded coins.
There web page currently shows the price for a 1938 D\D MS 66 to be
125.00 ( PCGS No. 93984 )

Although the 1938 D/D is not one of the dates currently effected,
PCGS reports downward trends in prices for the following Buffalo's
in Mint State 64 and higher
1913 D type I 1925 1930 S
1915 D 1925 S 1935 D
1916 D 1927 1935 1918 D 1929 S 1936
1919 D 1930 1937 D

Keep in Mind PCGS is really proud of their grading services, and they always report higher prices then you will find elsewhere.
There are three varieties of 1938 D/D FS-1938D-501, 502, and 503
the 502 is probably the most visually noticeable.
