Anybody hoarding these?
It was an interesting year for the American Silver Eagle. My intuition tells me to buy buy buy, but premiums are up up up.
I have a mint roll tucked away.
Anybody else?

If silver ever comes out of the stratosphere, the 2009s will be common as dirt- they struck almost 30 million of them(8 million more than last year and almost 3x as much as any other year)

Quote: the 2009s will be common as dirt- they struck almost 30 million of them I completely agree. With a mintage of 30 million, these 2009 ASE are quite common and in the coming years should be readily available. If the Mint produced Burnished and Proof 2009 ASE, we may not see such high mintages. As a collector of Burnished and Proof ASE, the 2009 dated ASE was the only one I could purchase this year. Normally I would not purchase one.

I'm not hoarding, but I made sure that I got a couple of them. The metals are still holding a high price and I am concerned that that trend may not continue, so I am not buying to much at this time. When I compare what I paid for my previous years ASE, the 2009 have been high in price. What does a mint roll currently cost?

I hoard all years of ASE's I can get my hand on. But I also remember if its not the 96 treat it as bullion

Even though they printed more 2009s, it's the statement that they are not printing more that got people in a temporary tizzy. It'll blow over in a couple months. I wouldn't buy 2009s as a special investment.

I purchased numerous rolls of ASE's, during the last dip in silver,($9-13 basis Comex) and some of you might think I'm sniffing solvent, but I believe thaT you will see silver trade somewhere between $75 to 110 an ounce. Time frame, within 5 years. (I'm a lousy market timer) I'm know I'm going to get dinged on that last "prediction", but the Fed has ruined the dollar, just a matter of time. also you'll see the Gold/Silver ratio go back down to the high 30's/low 40's imo. neil

Silver at $75-$110 an ounce sounds good to people that have a sizable amount of it. That also means that our economy may be much worse off than it is now,so I hope that it does not go that high.

I thought all they put a stop to minting was the Proof and the Burnished version. They stopped those only because the demand for silver ASE in bullion form (the other two was aimed for collectors) and it said they had to mint enough bullion ASE's to supply the demand. I think they are scheduled to mint 2010 Bullion ASE's unless I have missed them saying they are not planning on doing so. Just because the mint says they will not produce Uncirculated Bullion or Proof Bullion coins doesn't mean they will not produce Bullion ASE's, the Uncirculated coins they are speaking of has the W mint mark its not the ones you can get by the roll, they are sold separately and are burnished
