I'd say high AU, maybe a 58? Nice find.

fixed the pics, yeah it's a pretty funny story. I was going through them with my wife and found a nice looking 1950 D, I had just told her a few mins before that that was going to be the hardest one to find. I didn't realize what I had found, I said here is a nice 50, she said good you need that one. about ten minutes later she was reading the mintage totals and I said how many were minted for the one I found? she said like 2 million, that's when it hit me. I said what year she said 50 D, I said I found a 50 D? I have no idea how it didn't register right away.

That is one very nice 1950-D! I would have been in shock as well.

it has full steps, but has a small ding on them. would that keep it from being MS 64 or 65?

Sweet! Congrats on the nice find. I love it when you're going through coins and you see a shiny one and figure it's a newly-minted coin, but then read the date and realize it's way older than you thought.

Any lustrous coin from the 50s or even 60s is a nice find, but a 50D WOW!

These seem to be popping up alot more in circulation these days, though this is one of the higher grade finds if seen on the forum, so its definately from part of a dumped collection. I dont see any wear on the triangle or on jeffersons head, so I would say MS-63 or MS-64 since there are relatively few contact marks. That gouge next to the first column would keep it from going to ms 65 though. -Nice Find XoG

Sweet!! Congratulations ...... with XOG ..... that is a MS coin .... no wear that I can see anywhere. I found my only 50-d a few months back ..... still remember the moment ..... it came out of the roll face up ..... that big shiny 1950 staring at me ..... had to call my wife over to ask her to see if there was a 'd' on the reverse side. Did not have the nerve to look for myself Anyways .... these were put away in hoards at the time .... and your coin is further evidence that some of those MS stashes are being re-cycled. Great find ..... I'm happy for you David
