This is one I pulled from a BU bank roll I've had since 1990 as well. This one is just a sample - every coin in this roll looks to be about the same grade at a slightly-greater-than-glance look. Would like to hear your thoughts - I don't have a shot of the reverse but can post if it's needed. UPDATE 12/20/2009: I have added a photo of the reverse of this coin. Reverse pictures are always necessary for grading.

BadThad, I will try to get a photo of the reverse today or tomorrow and will post it.

I would say 64/64 for sure. I'm not sure what the copper-coating bubbles do to these newer coated pennies? If anyone knows for sure I would appreciate the info! Nice coin!

Clinton, this coin may grade higher in hand. I've found most people are pretty bad at grading these using pictures. The TPG's grade them much higher than you'd think. If the luster is strong and there's minimal spotting, these can easily go to 67-68.

I didn't realize they would go up that high on it. I agree on the photos - it is hard to see all the details. So the question is: Do I bother sending in a 1990D Lincoln Cent to a TPG? I don't see the value of the coin being more than the cost of the service? I'm open to the idea but not sure. Clinton

Yes, the quality of the modern Memorial cents is far better than the old ones. Grades of 66-68 are not unusual.
This is not a coin I would have graded, it's just not worth the money. If you want a slabbed one, it's be way cheaper to buy one already slabbed as these are inexpensive coins.
