Does anyone have an idea of what I have here? I bought this on the ebay as a drilled and filled Walking Liberty half. It looked a lot darker before I cleaned it. It was described as having some gold toning. When I received it it just didn't look right. So I put some tarn-X on it and ... presto. What the heck is this? Could this be a chinese knock-off with the silver plating worn off? Why would anyone go through the trouble of drilling and filling a fake half dollar? Seems like a lot of work to make a 6.00 coin.

Heck of a thing to do to a nice low-mintage coin.

I wonder if it was a jewelery piece at one time, or maybe a button?

Ouch that poor thing! I'm not sure what happened to it, but it's a shame that it did. Probably a former jewelry piece.
