I am putting my P/Ds from mint sets into a P/D Dansco, then I am putting my silver proofs into a seperate 'date set' Dansco. I am not interested in the clad proofs. Nor am I interested in putting silver with clad, so this is the best layout I can think of. I have most of the sets, but haven't broken them out yet as I don't have the Dansco albums yet.

I got all the silver proof and proof sets from 1999-2008 for $800.00. I haven't broken them out of the cases yet because now I can't afford the Danscos! Seemed like an ok deal but the 1999 Silver Delaware quarter is in poor condition as are one or two others. Just the Delaware one will set me back $50 I think. I only need a couple more silver proof sets from the 90's and then I'll have all the silver and proof set from 1955-2008. Then expensive ones, pre 1955. I wish my ADHD wasn't so expensive!

I have a P/D set that I put together, but my coins came from circulation. I have not cracked any of the silver proof sets, but plan to do so eventually and do the same as you (date set album). I do not have any of the clad proofs either (Well, except for a 1999 Delaware that my wife got in change a few years ago, but that one is in a 2x2). I have three holes in my Dansco ... 1999, 2001 and 2002 ... all three are premium priced S-Proof Sets, so they will be slow fills. I'm kicking myself for not ordering from the mint when offered ... I didn't start that until 2007. I may just try to by the Quarters separately, but really want the R-Dime and K-Half as well.

Nice Silver-filled Dansco, joker! My two 'date set' albums are MS63 to MS65 'D' Quarters that I received in change. Humble, but they are truly from circulation. Particularly satisfying when you see State Quarter folders being sold at dealers and shows that were filled with OBW coins, but they look worse than the coins you got in your change! A 'date set' album was perfect for those, after all in Denver there's no way you're going to get the 50 MS 'P' Quarters in change. One of my co-workers has a P&D Dansco of State Quarters found in circulation, where all 50 D's are MS and the P's are XF to AU. I traded her six BU Territory P's for hole-fillers, since it's going to be a while before any 2009-P Quarters ever show up here! Yes, the BU 2009-P's look out of place....

I have all the Sets in BU OGP's, I have all of the regular Proofs in OGP's, and I have a complete P & D Set put together from circulation. The only thing I don't have are the Silver Proofs ! (which, these of course would be what put the real value into this "complete" Set !) Had I bought the Silver Proof Sets as they came out, that would be one thing, but to try and go back and purchase them now is just impossible for me...and too much money for me.....can't afford to do it ! I do wish I already " had" them....but I don't.....and will not pursue them most likely. These would/do make such a beautiful complete Set though..... I'll just have to be happy without them and be satisfied with what I have of the famed " 50 State Quarter Program". (I "do" plan to have all of the Territories complete with Silver Proof though....got the coins...just waiting on the Dansco and slip case to be delivered !) ...

I lack the clad proofs in the series and doubt I will ever buy them. I don't see much gain in adding them. If I sold now, with just the silver proofs and the Business strikes, I believe I would get darn close to what complete sets are selling for.

I am also building a set from circulated coins. It's a good time looking through all the change I received during the week and putting them in the 2X2's.

This may sound like a dumb question, but I collect halves and dollars over quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies; but, do you crack the proof holders from the mint to acquire these proof coins for your dansco books?

This is absolutely what most "album people" do......they only buy the Proof Sets in order to "crack em'" out for the albums ! Some collect both..... the Sets to remain intact in original govt. packaging (OGP's).....and a second Set to "crack". You can also just pursue the individual coins in Proof from "other avenues" as well.
