I struggle with these as much as the next guy (probably more), but I'd agree they both look like large dates to me.

Blunt curl on the 9 pointing to the bottom of the 7 and prominent crease in the crossbar of the 7 gives you a large date every time. Small dates will have a sharp curl pointing to the upright of the 7 and there will no crease at the 7 crossbar.

The top of the 7 looks to be below the top of the 9 and 0, so I think you got cheated. A true small date should have the 7 at the same level as the 9 and 0.

It's actually a Dealer that only works guns and coin shows. I live across the street from the city convention center where they hold the shows and I see him about once a month, I will definitely have some choice words for him next time I see him.

If you do talk to him about this I would suggest bringing some documentation of what a large date and small date actually look like. It would help if he tries to argue that it really is a small date. If he is honest but clueless then he'll give you a refund. If he knew what he was doing when he sold you that expect a lame excuse like that coin isn't the one he sold you.

If we could tell from pictures a DEALER should know in person or not be in the trade.

Thats a large date like others mentioned. Dont forget to look at Liberty. Usually the RTY is weak on a small date.
