I am working on my Dansco 7070. My hometown has only one precious metal (major area) and coin store. Thus, I try to identify several good online coin dealers to purchase coins for my Dansco 7070. Based on my current search, it seems that the coast and coast coin offers a reasonable price for type coins. In addition to ebay, could you please give me some suggestions? As a new collector, my first priority is the reputation and the second priority is the price. Thanks.

How about the buy/sell/trade section here on CCF?

It's a good suggestion, Kena. However, I noticed that the forum is not very active on the sell/buy/trade of coins.
Since I don't have skills to examine whether it's a genuine or fake coin, I was hoping to buy from a trustworthy dealer. Thus, I don't need to worry about it.

Would you be referring to Ken Pine's Coast to Coast Coins as in the guy that always has a huge ad in coin publications? I would avoid that one as most of the listings are just an example of a coin in that grade and do not refer to a specific coin. I have also heard a number of stories involving BU coins being dipped or they end up being AU sliders. What kind of price range are you looking at for type coins? If you post some specific coins you are looking for in the Buy section, some members(including myself, shameless plug ) might be able to help you. My recommendations for online dealers with a nice selection of type coins and pictures would be JJ Teaparty, Harlan J. Berk, Miller's Mint and New Orleans Rare Coins.

Thanks, Biokemist6. Yes, I referred to Ken Pine's coast to coast coins. I saw the ad and found out that they have lots of inventory. By comparing the Littleton Coins with the Coast Coins, I thought the Coast is good. (I purchased several AU Walking Liberty halves from them. These coins have the beautiful luster. Now I guess these coins might have some problems.? This would be a good topic for me to study ) Thank you for sharing me a list of good online dealers. (I think the information will also benefit other new collectors.) Thank you for your kind offer. I will post the coins I need on the buy/sell/trade forum. (Regarding the price range, it is not an easy question to answer. It depends on the type coin I need.)

Typecoins.com and vtcoins.com are my favorites currently. I would also avoid Coast Coins. I got burned on some cleaned $2.5 gold...

Lets just say that Ken Pines was booted from the ANA a few years ago for repeated gross misrepresentation of coins*... *Or I should say, he was booted for failing to answer to filed complaints about gross misrepresentation of coins. IMO, lack of response is a strong indication of guilt.

Thank you, all. I believe I have gathered enough information of online coin dealers. Based on the price listed on their websites, I should be able to make an informed decision.

Well I've always liked and used the BST here. Definitely depends on your needs though.

Not sure where you live but you could try Google or Yahoo for possilbe coin shows or coin stores in nearby towns. Also, if your near the border of a state, try the other state also. If your not in a hurry, eventually you may travel somewhere where there would be a coin store or coin show, so make a list and just wait. You also may want to try coin clubs, hobbby stores, hobby clubs. Remember as the old saying used to go, let your fingers do the walking. Try calling some of those and see if and when they may have coins for sale. Many coin forums also have buy/sell sections and supposedly memebers are decent, honest, trustworthy individuals that you may want to do buisness with. I'm not one of those though. As far as on line dealers there are many, many out there. Although many complain abou Coast to Coast, I had one really great experience with them. Same with VTcoins. MillersMint is pretty good in my estimation also. They have a fantastic catalog and makes me wonder if anyone really has that many coins. Really, really poooor experiences with Harlan Berk and since I go by there almost every day, even worse in person experiences. JMScoins is a real nice guy but prices are way, way out of reason. https://www.coppercoins.com was supposed to be setting up a coin store but not sure what happened to that. The biggest problem with on line shopping for coins is what one person tells you, others may say just the oppposite. And also, someone that recommends a dealer may really be that dealer or work with them. All's fair in love and war and coins too.
