Hi all,

Just wanted some info on how much more difficult and pricey it would be to fill an 8100 compared to filling a 7100 Dansco album. I have the Whitman Lincoln folder filled for the most part, almost all from roll hunting. I now would like to start building a fairly high grade Lincoln Dansco and was having trouble deciding if I should go for the 8100 or just stick to the 7100.

Does anyone know how many more coins the 8100 includes?

In the reading I have done it seems like Lincoln proofs were made from the first year of production, but there were several different periods of proofs to date and different finishes on them.

Also how much more costly would the 8100 be to fill, and is there any Key date Proofs with substantial prices such as the 1909-S VDB, 1914D and 1931S.

Thanks for all your help and Happy Holidays

I have the 8100. It's set up so that the book doesn't have holes for all the Proofs until there were "Proof only" years, i.e. from 1975-S & onward.

So even though there were Proof issues for earlier years, for 29 years between 1936-1974 (not every year were there Proof issues), the "Proof only" years started with the 1975-S. Proofs were issued from 1936-1942 (Philly mint), from 1950-1964(Philly mint), & from 1968-S to 1974-S (S.F. mint).

For those 29 years, there were also simultaneous issues of non-Proofs (e.g., 1936, 1936 Proof; 1964, 1964 Proof; 1968-S, 1968-S Proof).

There were 35 "Proof only" issues for all the years from 1975-S to 2009-S, i.e., all the S mints from 1975 to the present are Proofs. I hope this is not too confusing.

BTW, the 8100 that I have only goes until 2007. I have to buy an additional page for the dates after 2007.

I was able to buy a Proof set from 1975 to the present on ebay.

I use the 7103 and the 8102,but would like to combine them into one album. I added a extra page for '36-'42 and '50-'74 proofs.

I went with the 8100, I remember when they went to a proof only in 1975. In fact I bought the 1975-S and still have it (in my 8100). I also ripped open a bunch of duplicate proof sets and while you are doing that, you might as well save the proof Jeffersons, etc. See where this is going?

Thanks for clearing it all up, so I guess I will probably go with the 8100 since it is only 35 more coins and it seems that these should not be too hard to obtain since they are 1975 to present.

So I'm guessing there are no rarities in the proofs from 75-present?

Robert, no. There are no rarities to speak of that would come anywhere near being called a "key" or "semi-key."
