1776-1976 US Dollar Error ?

It's the Liberty Bell...it's supposed to have a crack, isn't it?

As I recall, the original was cracked when it was rung to notify the public of the death of the first Chief Justice, John Marshall, and it was never rung again, since the decision was made not to repair the crack.

I don't think it is this that makes it Type 2.

Your Ike dollar is called a Type 2 due to thw lettering on the reverse. (Type 1 has a bolder lettering). The Bell on the reverse is a representation of our "Liberty Bell" which is famous for its crack.
