Greetings. I was wondering if someone could provide some information for the medal pictured below. I recently found this among various coins and would like to more about it. The only thing I've found online is this photo.

I don't know too much about the medal itself, but I can tell you a bit about the event it commemorates.

In 1914, Germany invaded neutral Belgium. The conquered country faced the prospect of famine, as the war severely disrupted the Belgian economy and the Germans diverted whatever food they could find towards their own war effort. An American-led charity, the Committee for Relief in Belgium headed by future US President Herbert Hoover, organized delivery of food aid from the neutral US to the civilian population of Belgium.

The medal depicts the Belgian king and queen and on the reverse, Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, gives wheat to a destitute and grateful Belgium (the woman with child) who is watched over by the Genius, or Spirit, of Belgium. The presence of the monarch's image on the medal indicates this is likely an official award issued by the Belgian government, presumably to those involved with the relief effort, but I'm just guessing.

This medal was made by Francois Baetes Anvers. I have seen some of his medals and plaques they are quality workmanship. One of the silver medals had the same image and writing and the face side of the coin.
