Not necessarily so. I do quite well selling on ebay and DO NOT accept returns of raw coins. It's too easy for folks to swap out coins and send back to you something less than you sent them.

At worst...I lose about 75 bucks on this deal. I'll make it back on the next one.

I hope it works out for you. The one thing I did notice was that the seller does not state anywhere a word about dates. He only promises that they are Walking Liberty half dollars and that there are 37 of them. We are assuming they are put in the proper holes in the album. But if he ends up sending you 37 coins all dated 1943 he'd still be living up to his end of the bargain as presented. On the other hand, if even a single key or semi key date is included would make this a break even deal at least.

The wear on the page one coins that are present...is typical of the early ones, so I've less concern about that. Most people aren't going to invest 20 plus dollars in a Dansco album and place the coins with no regard to date. That's why they make those little plastic tubes.

The seller had excellent feedback. You paid $9.50 per coin so even worse case scenario you should at least break even assuming a few coins grade at vf or better. If you get a really rare or nice coin you stole it. Some of my greatest internet buys were on poorly worded listings with lousy photographs. I would have gambled.... Sincerely, John Leckrone

There are a few decent coins, but most of these were just uninspiring....enough that I took them out of the album and stuffed them into the little plastic tubes. Not one of my better buys. I've made some humdingers though, so every once in awhile I can afford a minor stumble.

I think you did very well regardless of whether the picture is accurate or not! It's still a pretty good buy and let's face it, they are not getting any cheaper!so we are watching for pictures or info.

Don't worry about the "no returns." Ebay/PayPal have made it difficult for sellers to deal with dishonest buyers, so that isn't a warning light by itself.

I'm shocked that guy didn't bother to take more photos. Photos add like 14 cents to the cost of his listing.

When dealing with albums from 20-30 years ago, I find myself wondering, "Did they just plug in another coin there, maybe a nice one they didn't have a slot for? At least it will be a real coin." In the next 10 years, I will be asking, "Did they buy fakes off of ebay to fill in the plugs?" There won't be any intentional fraud, just a guy making his collection look nice while he kept building it, and his kids/grandkids had no idea.

So are you gonna keep the Dansco or do you want to get rid of it?
