I have a 1974 penny and the back looks like it was restruck partially side ways with the same impression?
The front is normal and the back looks like a mess up. It is like the building is re-struck cross-ways and the word one. Anyone have any info on it?

are you purposely trying to kill us? If so it is working! We need photographs, you know pictures or at least hammer out into a stone tablet.

Without pictures only a guess can be ventured. Might be post mint alteration (hammer struck with another coin). Just a possibility.

it may be glue where they glued two lincoln cents together to make a two headed coin. it could also be a squeeze job where they squeeze two coins together in a vice but without pictures it is hard to say what caused what you are seeing but one of these two cases is what we usually see when someone is asking about something like you describe

We call these squeeze jobs and they are damaged coins created after they leave the mint.

Coins are stacked together and then whacked with a hammer. They also can be stacked and placed in a vice.

In this case, the hammer was more likely and the design was added to the reverse of the first coin when the reverse of another coin was lying on top of it and then hammered.
