On Ghost Whisperer tonight they had a dead numismatist who had dropped a 1943 copper Lincoln Cent in a crack and wanted Melinda to get it out of the crack and send it to his wife. He said he was going to a coin show in Charlotte when he died after trying to get the Lincoln Cent out and the truck fell off the jack killing him

Talking about TV shows. Does anyone watch Dexter? Nothing to do with coin collecting except his last name is Morgan. It's a great show, fourth season just started in Aus and I caught the last half of season 3. My kids bought season 1 and 2 for me for Christmas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexter_(TV_series)Steve :)

As I recall, the first Christmas episode of Bones also had a storyline where a '43 copper cent played a role.

Other shows that had a story line about Coins included the Unit and the Simpsons.

That 43 Copper coin that fell into a crack could have been easily pulled out with a magnet. If like the ones I've got, just Copper plated.

When it comes to coins on a TV show there was a really hilarious Perry Mason one where that detective Paul Drake almost spent a massively expensive coin. Kept it in his pocket too. Everyone was handling it like it was a normal coin too. That is the one thing you see all the time on TV shows. How people handle coins worth a fortune with their hands.

For the Bones coin episode does anyone know the Season number and Episode number (or name) so I can watch it?

Now that would be a real tuff one to answer I suppose. I wonder if a call to the station would give out that info. It would really take someone with a photographic memmory to remember that.

I was watching Handy Manny with my son this morning (as we always do). In this episode they find a "coin" in the laundromat. They were not able to identify it, so they started asking around. Someone said that they needed to speak to a numismatist and actually explained what one was. Eventually it was discovered to be a medal awarded to a kid for winning a race. The best part is, I actually got my 20 month old son to say "coin" for the first time.

Several years back during the George H W Bush administration at the celebration for the Bicentennial of the Mint, at a PR event Bust was showing the Press examples of early coinage and one piece he picked up and held pinched between his thumb and forefinger (NOT by the edges) was the Smithsonian's MS example of the Birch Cent. And the coin was NOT in a cointain or any other kind of protective holder. 200 year old MS copper coin and he's putting fingerprints all over it.

I'll refrain from the obvious remark...

I just never remember seeing what she did with it. I know she put her fingers all over it and put it in an envelope but that's the last I remember seeing that thing.
