So my son is looking at his 20th century type set. He holds up his standing liberty quarter--this slick thing that I got in change as a kid in the seventies--and says, "Do you think this coin was in Eliasberg's collection?"

Nah, he's not a freak, just a kid. While that coin was certainly not in Eliasberg's collection, it's fun for him to think so. We all like to think about the possibilities of the journeys of our coins. It's part of what makes collecting so much fun

I told him Eliasberg might have had it in his pocket, but not in his collection.

Not a freak, just a coin enthusiast like the rest of us.

You know his question brought a tear of joy to your eye :)

FREAK....

Just like the rest of here, we are all freaks one way or another because of the love we have for collecting. This made me laugh because I picked up my son from school today and took him to the coin store to look around. He quickly found the coins he likes to collect and started pointing to what he wants. All I could do was laugh because he is 6 and knows his own collection better than I do with mine. I need to write up a list for him now so he can fill the holes and not just buy the same thing over again.

Good to see his interest and enthusiasm. Searching/collecting never gets old AND its something he can do all his life.

Don't feel bad. My daughter says to my mother, "I was not around when Jesus was here, but YOU were!"
