Hello,

I'm about to put my 1909-S VDB, PCGS MS64 RB up for auction. I know the title helps with the search parameters, so I would just like some suggestions.

My coins has light jade-green toning, so should I include "toned" for people searching for attractive toning?

All suggestions are welcome. I'm posting it tonight. Thanks!

EDIT: SEE DRAFT ON MY NEXT POST.

I would use the title description that you listed;

1909-S VDB, PCGS MS64 RB, tone(d)

I've used some of the special characters to attract attention also; ~~~~~blah, blah, blah~~~~~ to fill up the max title description.

And just go nuts with your description using those "attention getter" words; beautifully toned jade-green, etc...

I know it goes without saying (that's why I'm going to say it anyway), good, quality pictures to eliminate guesswork on potential bidders.

All caps in listing as you had above.
Use bold text which stand out more than regular text heading. Cost $2 more.
I know many ebay leaser scroller stop and pay attention to bold list heading.

KEY DATE - Attractive Light Emerald Toned. An additional 50¢ subtitle.
Look like I am selling for ebay advertisement. LOL.

Paratrooper,

How many ebay sales have you made? I ask because most of the "whales" who may be interested in this one may back away from an auction posted by a seller with zero seller experience and associated feedback.

Have you considered letting Bobby/Susan list this for you? Just a thought.

Seated Nut,

I have 20 feedback now, several of which are as a seller. Here's a draft of my listing. What's an ideal time to release it? It will be ten days ending on a Sunday.

Any feedback on the body of the listing is welcome. I have not posted it yet. The "please read" is in bold red, the subject headers are in blue and the rest of the text is in black.

Please Read Important Information

About Me: I am starting with my bio because if you are like me, you want to be comfortable with whom you are buying from. This is especially true with a coin of this caliber. I am not a professional dealer, I am an avid collector who thoroughly enjoys numismatics. Because of this my transaction count is lower than most; however, if you check my feedback you will find it is impeccable. It is completely void of one-liners such as, "thanks" from buyers who feared retaliatory feedback. I believe in conducting business with honesty and integrity. As a collector I know how I like to be treated, thus, I reciprocate the same when I have coins for sale.

About This Coin: This 09-S-VDB Lincoln is attractively toned a light, jade-green on the prominent surfaces. In my opinion the coin looks better in hand, as the color proved to be extremely difficult to capture with my digital camera. It is Certified and graded MS64 RB by PCGS. The strike is bold and the details are sharp. If you are near Fort Bragg, NC you are welcome to come examine the coin in person. But be forewarned, I have a big dog and mean wife who's armed - so no funny business. :)

Return Policy: I would never buy a key date coin without a return policy, so I don't expect you to do the same. For your comfort and protection I offer a 3-day, money back return privilege. I will refund the full price of the coin, less the actual outbound shipping cost. The buyer also pays for return shipping.

Shipping: Free Registered, Insured USPS. The coin will ship the next business day after the payment has been confirmed.

Payment Options: I accept PayPal, or Check. The coin will be held until the check clears.

Feel free to contact me with any question, and thank you for looking!

Paratrooper,

Looks Ok until I get to the "return" part. You ship free, but are asking the buyer to cover your costs on the outbound should they decide to return it? This won't be possible on a PayPal transaction as they refund the entire purchase amount on returns. I would suck it up and just have the buyer pay return shipping. That's the norm for these. Good luck.

Seated, what time would you post it?

It is relevant whether I hide the "visit count"?

Paratrooper,

Timing is everything. If you are listing on Sunday night (a good night to list) I have mine end NLT 7:30 pm PST. That way it is not past 10:30 pm on the East Coast and in prime time on the West Coast. Any later and the East Coasters are retiring; earlier and the West Coasters are eating dinner.

Also remember the FUN Show is going on right now in Orlando. It's one of the biggest National shows of the year and a lot of "whales" will be in transit.

That's why I'm not listing anything until the end of the month.

Not sure if you listed this yet or not, but you need to include basic key words in your description.

From "1909-S VDB, PCGS MS64 RB"

to :

1909-S VDB Lincoln Cent PCGS MS64 US COIN PENNY

Something of that nature. Use every space you can. Even include rare if you can fit it. I removed the RB designation bacause if folks are interested in this coin, they probably aren't as concerned with RB and it will give you more room for keywords.
