Hello,
What is the point or some good reasons to restart and maintain my coin blog knowing that it will get very little if no visits by other people?
Thanks, Rich

There are several questions to ask yourself. Is this website for profit (i.e. page views?), do you pay for hosting? etc. What is the purpose of your website? If it's for personal enjoyment, go for it. But if it's for business reasons, you might want to think harder about the effort it takes to attract viewers.

That would depend on WHY you are doing it! If it is simply to see how many visitors you get then shut it down. If your desire is to share your knowledge of coins, then perhaps some promotion of the blog would be necessary. I remember visiting when you first started it up, but this would be the first I've heard of it since! Maybe a link in your signature line might help a bit?

Hello,
Thanks for the input. The site is for both personal enjoyment and to try and spread my knowledge of coins. I was paying for my own domain and hosting but I now use my ISP's free hosting and URL which is longer and harder to remember but that is what links are for right?
Thanks, Rich

I like the blog idea. It spread your knowledge and it provides a sort of journal for your own records. If you enjoy it and it hasn't become a chore to you, I would certainly continue.

I say the more coin sites, the better! And as a member here, you have great access to an audience. I too, look forward to visiting it.

To show you just how old I am I have no idea of what a Blog is. Not sure what it stands for either. I suppose that BLOG is short for something or other. Sorry about your blob or web site or whatever it is. I've never seen it nor even knew where or what it is or was. As to a personal web site? Not sure what such a thing is good for. If it cost money to have it, then even less sure why. If only for personal reasons, may as well just have a great display on your own computer. If for buisness, sort of to late since there are so many now. As an example some time back someone came out with a thing called a VHS tape and people ran out and opened stores to rent and sell them. Then more and more such stores opened. Then the really big stores took over. Eventually all the little, first ones went out of buisness. Neighborhood hardware stores were once a great place to buy things but there too the big stores took over and those too vanished. My Som at one time was into those sports cards. Said some were worth a lot of money. Then at a flea market we saw a box of 1,000 of them for $5 and that ended that hobby for him. Meanwhile, back to your web site. If it's for buisness, your probably way to late. If it's for fun and yourself, my opinion, which is usually worthless, is to just make such a thing on your own computer and enjoy it for yourself.

Heck, Why not create a thread in the forums and call it snitchard's blog? You could host pictures with photobucket or one of those other sites if you don't have your own hosting service. The odds are pretty good that the people who browse these forums would be your target audience. Not much advertising needed. Every time you posted (new blog entry), your blog would get bumped.
just carl: I don't know if you're serious (I'm new to the site and I'm gullible). A blog is short for "web log" which is an online journal more or less. Before the internet was cool computer nerds had e-zines (electronic magazines) which eventually mutated into blogs.

Quote: Heck, Why not create a thread in the forums and call it snitchard's blog? An interesting idea. I could argue that coppernickeldaddy's The Goal: 25,000 Rolls of Nickels post is a blog of sorts.
