A bracteate (from the Latin bractea, a thin piece of metal) is a flat, thin, single-sided coin.

Silver bracteate of Otokar II, King of Bohemia (1253 - 1278)
The very first coin where the double tailed lion
(coat of arms of Bohemian kings and later the national symbol of Czech Republic) was used.
This coin was minted before 1253 when Otokar was margrave of Moravia.
