If it wasn't for the two large marks on the bottom of Ms Liberty's cap, I would have no problem grading this coin MS-67. The two marks will drop the grade a bit MS-64. It's a beauty.

Technically, it's nothing. But, in some coin areas it is slang to describe an area of mintage between the first 10,000 strikes on the die and hub up to 50,000. Some locals were I dwell use it in the coin shops. It's not a real accurate measure, it simply means a coin has extraordinary detail without being designated a proof etc.

Oh, I see. Sound reasonable enough to me. Thanks, I am still in the lingo learning phase of all of this coin stuff.

Are those cleaning scratches at 10 oclock on the obverse?

there is a very very slight grain texture, almost like a Woody appearance but they are not scratches. I think I am going to send the coin and get it graded.

I'm betting on an MS-65 or better.

Man, the detail just pops out and grabs you!
