has anyone seen or have a colonial note signed by leonard lispinard of ny or christopher gadsden of south carolina. I am trying to complete a collection of autographs of delegates to the stamp act congress and these two are known to have appeared on early colonial notes.

As a currency cataloger for Heritage Auctions, I have cataloged a lot of colonial notes. Generally I try to mention the names of the signers in my descriptions as I know some people who collect are seeking certain signatures (not all catalogers everywhere do that however). I don't believe I've cataloged any notes with those signatures. Some seller's websites let you set up want lists so that you'll be notified if something matching your criteria is listed. However, odds are you will probably need to keep actively looking at lots on various websites, etc. yourself in order to find what you're looking for. Good luck with your quest!

Numiseye-

Sorry I didn't see your posting until now. Colonial fiscal paper is listed in Anderson's The Price of Liberty. A few of the notes that were offered as part of the Midnight Ride Collection were unlisted in Anderson (I cataloged almost all of the fiscal paper in that sale- we had another big group in addition to the Midnight Ride material). One other source of information is Gene Hessler's An Illustrated History of U.S. Loans 1775-1898. Both books are out of print, but usually copies can be tracked down.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need additional information.
