I don't always like coins just because they are rather cool looking, but I do like this one and strictly because it is (in my opinion) the coolest looking coin to come out of Britain in hundreds of years. I like animals on coins and a dragon is a very cool animal.

I do wish it were considerably larger, yet quite a thick coin for it's size.

I like it! I have never seen it before as I am new to this but it is cool looking.

I do like the dragon, it is a clean simple and not a cluttered design.

My favorite State Quarters for example are something like Texas and Wyoming for that reason as opposed to something like Arizona, it is just to cluttered.

I purchased the Australian Kangaroo at sunset in both strikes just for that reason. Forget they are limited editions, they are just cool looking.

Now I need to find one of these!

Hmm, I've never really thought about this coin in that way, when you get hundreds of fakes of this coin from 2000, and the fact that this is the fattest circulating coin since the cartwheel coins, and normally looks less shiny. But yes, if I weren't so used to it I think i'd like it a lot more!

Yes, I wish the Sydney ZOO would purchase one.

If the zoo were to purchase one, I would be rather concerned about it escaping and setting the outback on fire.

You've got me wondering now if mine is a fake, augsburger. Do you know of an authentication method?

Yours is a rpoof strike most probably coming from a set. Fake 1-pound coins don't shine like a proof coin, they shine like brass or nickel, because of the difference in the base metal. year 2000 has a high mintage number, and yet to be found a lot in circulation across the UK. However, it is one of my most favourite modern UK, the Cymru (you know what I mean:)) dragon is a very lovely design.
Your ain't no a fake, zeewool.

svslav : can trade a 1995 1-pound aUNC / AU58 with you right away :))

Thanks for the reassurance molydeii. I do appreciate it, as cannot be seen from the scans, the coin is quite shiny.

Thanks, molydeii, I do want 1995 pound. And I also would like 2000 pound as they have different effigies of HM, so keep your eyes open for those.

I'm little surprised that you think this is the coolest thing to come out of Britain in the last several hundred years.

You need to get out more there are far nicer coins than the Pound from the UK. Just my 2 Cents worth.
