I have a co-worker who has been saving her change for years, but she doesn't see the point to search it for anything good. Now I know that any pre 64 dimes, quarters and halves are silver and the 40% is good. wheat pennies too. But one of the areas in U.S. coinage that I don't keep an eye out for is errors, maybe I'll start to hmmmm

What are a few that can make there way into change today and there values?

What are the better ones to watch for?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Get a Cherry Pickers Guide. That should tell you what you need to look out for. There are hundreds if not thousands of things you could find.

Go to the section at the top "Modern Varieties and Errors" to see an on-going list of desirable varieties and errors. Most have photos to show you the diagnostics. These are usually listed by date and contain comments from some real experts in the field.

I can't help you on this one because I do the same thing your co-worker does. I just dont have the bug that would make me go through all my change looking for anything. I just throw my change in a bucket and when its full I take it to the bank. If there is anything in my change it will be there for the next person because I don't have any interest in anything you can get in change today errors or varieties. Now if Morgan dollars were still circulating I would definitely look at each of them trying to find out what variety it was but not anything circulating today

If you don't want to search for errors and varieties, pluck out the BU coinage. I'm working on a friends change stash that's about 25 years old and it's full of nice BU coins.

Thank you for the replys, I'll look into one of those cherry picker guides and scoll thru the errors/varieties area too. If she doesn't want to go thru it all still maybe I'll see if she'll cash it into my car for f/v but w/o the coinstar fees hmmm?

Make sure you pull all the Draped and Capped Bust coinage, they are worth some money.

If you find enough I could use all of the BU 1982p small date zincs you find!

BU Zincolns are tough to come by... I would keep those also
