Yes....the Kooka is the Perth Mint (therefore the Aussie Governments) bullion silver coin.

Its interesting that the kooka is considered a bullion coin at $27 or $29 or whatever the current price is. I know a number of places where you can get 2006 $1 silver roos for < $25.

The Perth Mint sells wholesale to dealers 1oz kookas for about $28 so they have to retail at about $32. The recommended retail on a 1oz kangaroo from the RAM is $24.60. I steer guys buying 1oz bullion silver to the roos as they are cheaper and I actually make more money from them. The roos are a "collector" coin while the kookas are bullion but both contain the same amount of silver.

Ah ok thanks for letting me know. I *did* think it was a bit odd. I've been buying roos in preference to the kookas because they we were cheaper but thought perhaps I was missing something. Clearly I wasn't.

The ASE's are coming closer now to getting in Australia...Hopefully by this time next month the "eagle will have landed". The first lot that will arrive will hopefully be even cheaper than the 1oz roo's.
