I don't think it's ancient, it has a mediaeval look to it, but I have no idea where this one is from - 30mm is very large for a mediaeval (or ancient) silver coin.

Thanks Sap, What would you say the time period for medieval coins? I suppose that I might be posting in the wrong area. Should I be in the 'classic world coins' part of the site?

I haven't seen anything like this before, I agree with Sap it's not ancient could be medieval. It may be some type of jeton. Is it lead?

OK, zeewool, I was looking for one of your other South-east Asian coin-like things, and came across this piece while flicking through the pages on Zeno: Kingdom of Funan silver unit, circa 70 - 550 AD. Funan was the Chinese name for the pre-Khmer Hindu kingdom that ruled much of Southeast Asia during that time period. Now that's a nice find.
