Hi Jim

Good luck with the new house !!

First thing I do at a new house after unpacking, is I swing the yard with my Metal detector !!

I found over 100 coins in the yard of this old house I'm presently working on !!

Our turn to move to a new house is coming later this month (we hope... we were made this promise in May, too).
Rest in Peace

Our "new house" days are likely over. We have lived in the same home since 1976, but do enjoy making improvements on it. We currently are working with fish ponds. Also, working on my office so that I will have more room to display collections, especially coins.

New houses are one of the things that make life exciting. I am happy for you.

Hi Gary.

In our previous home, we built a gold fish pond. It added great beauty to the yard, and the sound of the waterfall really did help relieve stress. We added a light underneath the water, which enhanced enjoyment of the pond tremendously at night. Overall, the pond experience was good.

In our new home, I'm going much bigger this time, but this will be a bass pond that we can fish out of. We decided that might even be more fun yet, and we enjoy the wildlife attracted by ponds. I hope that in a year or two, we'll be able to say we're happy with our choice this time around.

A hearty congrats to you! My family just moved into a new house, and my mom was having headaches over the last minute details, so I can sort of relate.

Daniel:

We just returned from Home Depot where we saw a great setup for a pond. We are on the brink of going ahead with it.

I certainly agree about the beauty, and the restful sound of the waterfall. Currently we have a 250 gallon pond in the back yard, and a small one with a few gold fish up on the deck. It also has running water. Very enjoyable to go sit outside at night and listen.

We will probably add the new one we saw at Home Depot. It would go in our front yard and probably be stocked with Koi.

The problem we are currently having with our backyard pond is snakes. They really enjoy feastiing on my gold fish. I do have one fish which is 8 inches, and they leave him alone. I added three others, each about three inches, and hope they will be okay. Our youngest son, a biology teacher, gave me some bluegill and small mouth bass earlier in the week, and they seem to be snake proof.

Great, enjoyable, restful hobby! Like coins!
