I have several bronze or brass tokens that have hercules bust on the front with club. I have no idea where they came from. They are about the size of a half dollar. There is nothing on the back.

I believe one of these was posted to the forums before...
I suspect the origin is French, and it depicts Hercules. WWI or earlier?
It may have been worn by a soldier for protection in battle--just some guesses.

It reminds me of this piece, only because of it's slightly irregular shape and the fact it has an ancient mythical hero on one side. Stylistically, they're quite different, but I suspect they had a similar function.

If I had to guess, I'd say they were "good luck charms" - wear them and some of the ancient hero's attributes (strength, skill, etc) might rub off on you.
