I bought 8 raw MS 1899o morgans that are 100% identical to the one in the following link in regards to die cracks that chase the lettering on the reverse. I am wondering what VAM this represents and whether it is worth it to send the nicest example (a rainbow toner on the reverse with nice edge toning on the obverse) to Anacs or NGC for grading. I paid $19 each for the eight I have. www.telecoins.com/images/dlr...-n65-0807.jpg

Hard to say without better pics. But, I lean towards the VAM 34B.

I think this VAM can be found at vamworld under VNA vams not assigned, looks to be a good match, perhaps someone else can confirm it......

thank you ZEEWOOL but I must say also, I meant only to comment on the fact of the die cracks..are of the listed VNA and quite a beautiful coin .it still can be VAM but not with these die cracks,,,that still leaves many others of the opened and closed nine varieties....

The reverse break on the D of United going out to the rim looks promising, send it to Leroy.

It's just a suggestion Lou. Take it or leave it, there's no charge for my advice.

My question was to aladin. I am fully aware that you have forgotten more about these things than I will ever know. (I didn't see your post before I asked)

I 'do' know when it is time to limit myself to other forums & sub forums here & it looks to me like that time has come.

Because of the D break and the possibility of a reverse "m" on this coin, if the coin belonged to me I'd take my own advice and send it to Leroy, however just because I suggest it doesn't mean it has to be done. I'm not the owner of this coin, nor did I come on this site to cause trouble. Have a good day and enjoy the hobby.

Leroy Van Allen, who is the one that assigns VAM numbers. Check out VAMWORLD to find out how to do this. You really need to post on there with good quality pics of the obverse and reverse of the coin you want to send in (and I mean your coin)and they will tell you if it needs to be sent in or not. You will need to pay the cost of shipping and insurance both ways plus a small fee to Leroy.
