Hello,

I just read that the mint is starting a new circulating quarter program. I need advice. I'll eventually collect the circulated coins for sure but I was thinking of also collecting the proof sets of these coins. Each proof set has 5 coins per year. Where I need advice is this. I also collect annual proof sets and would get these quarters there anyway so is it a bonehead move to collect just the quarter proof sets separately?

Thanks,
Rich

The quarters will be included with the annual proof sets. So unless you want to collect two sets of proof quarters, there is no need to get the individual quarter proof set. It really depends on what you want to do with them.

I wouldn't say its a bonehead move, I buy the silver proof sets to keep intact. Then I buy the silver proof quarter sets to put into a dansco.

Not a bonehead move in my opinion. Collect what you like!! I collect mint sets, proof sets, and silver proof sets. I have lots of double pennies, nickels, and dollars from the proof sets and silver proof sets! Some examples of these are better then others and If one day I decide to crack them open to put them in Danscos I'll be able to pick my favorites and then maybe sell off the extras as a complete set of proof pennies, nickels, or president dollars.

If you want something different maybe collect the silver proof sets of quarters!

I don't think your a bonehead, just a collector like the rest of us!

If you don't mind "crackin the Set".....then it would be more cost effective to do as Jbuck says.

If you collect proof sets and prefer to leave them intact, but you also want to build a proof America the Beautiful Quarter set, then buy the additional set to crack and put into the album.

As long as you do what makes you happy, then nothing is boneheaded.

Absolutely agree with Jbuck and Carl.....but there's that little word I used ....."cost-effective".....and that's really important nowadays !
You'd have to choose which you want if overall "cost" is an issue...."intact" Proof Sets........or "crack em'" for albums.
