Reading through some of the posts here in the forum, I see that many members participate in roll sorting. I am going to do the same, however what banks have free coin sorters? The only one I have used is CoinStar located in Kroger.

Like Gothic Florin said, TD is free. Locations up and down the east coast I believe.
When I was living in the Poconos, nearly all the local banks around my house had a free machine for customers and a 5% or so charge for non-account holders.

I'm in NC. One small branch of RBC bank has a Coinstar, A couple of the local Parkway banks have them and it seems like all the State Credit Unions have them.

Here in NY, my small bank (First National Bank of Scotia) got one when they built there new building a few months back. I'd say you'd have pretty good luck at finding one at any fairly new bank.

You can also re-wrap the coins in the exact wrapper you received them in. I've re-wrapped coins in both bank wrapped paper and the plastic, works fine and doesn't take that long. All banks will accept them and saves you the fees if you don't have a free coin return machine

My credit union won't accept rolled coins. They have a CoinStar machine that is free for members but charges for non-members. That seems to be the MO at all the banks around me (Michigan) - free for members/customers but charges if you don't have an account.

All the casinos in Michigan will take your coins unrolled for free. Just dont mix them up, and they reject the canadian coins. most the time you have to seperate the dimes from the quarters nickels and pennys. but they are happy do take back coins for free.

TX seems to be lacking in machines. Just the Coinstars in every grocery store. I wish I could find a bank locally that had one its a pain in the butt rolling coins so I can deposit them.

I haven't been able to find any free coin counting machines here in Warner Robins, GA. The Kroger's have Coinstars at 8.9 cents per dollar. However I did find that the credit union here uses Coinstar at a discounted rate for members at 4.9 cents per dollar.

You should ask your credit union if there is a level of membership you can attain that affords you free use of the coin counter. The machine in my CU was charging me 5% until I asked. Now if I keep a minimum balance of $500, there is no surcharge!
