Good Morning,

As some of you may know I have been letting some of our mint sets go in order to buy a 1884 Carson City Morgan dollar. After doing some more reading on them I am having second thoughts. I was hoping that buying the CC Morgan would be something very nice to look at but also something that would increase in value over the years, but after reading comments about them being "common" I am not sure about them increasing in value. I have around $250.00 to work with, should I stick with the CC Morgans or try and find a lower mintage coin that has a chance of being worth more in 10-15 years. I am a newbie to all of this so any advice is more than welcome. Thanks,

Wornslick

I also am a newby, but, I know what I love to look at and the history of the CC coins is wonderful, to look at and more to hold in your hand--gives me chills and I'm a normal guy..I started collecting the whole 13 year CC set and enjoying every minute too. I'm working hard on the 1889cc and the 93cc. My favorite is the 1878cc being the 1st, and in MS64 is beautiful. It sure makes me smile..

that is exactly why I focused on 1878 Morgans, It was the first year the design was minted. When I started getting into VAM collecting this was the date I focused on
