Only my 2007 & 2008 are magnetic, don't have any 09 yet. Maybe the Mint found some old planchets & used them by mistake. Could be a sleeper.  life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

I don't know.. I'm thinking the mint probably couldn't find the old sheet material at a low enough price they'd make a profit for pennies so they went with some other material for now. I remember from the tour I took the last time I visited the mint that there really isn't much of a profit margin on pennies. If the cost of their materials goes up they'd be losing money.

These seem very common right now. Are they really worth collecting? Even in 3-4 years you'll find these up the wazoo.

So far all 2010s found are NON-MAGNETIC.(Although there are rumours of MAGNETICS being found here and there.)This is the one to look for. Again as far as I know only "the various sets" from the mint are MAGNETIC,not to say some couldn't have found their way into circulation. As far as the ebay auction FAR,FAR,FAR too much.Bottom line the 2010 non-magnetics are VERY,VERY,VERY COMMON |

non-magnetic 2010 is all I have found. 2009 magnetic and non-magnetic I have found; 2008 - only magnetic; 2007 - mostly magnetic and 1 non-magnetic.

I received this set for my birthday last month. Out of curiosity, I tried the penny with a magnet. WOW, a magnetic 2010 penny. I have ordered a second set to see if the magnetic penny is indeed there also. If anyone has a set like this, please try the penny with a magnet and see if these sets do contain the illusive 2010 magnetic penny. You may be in for a wonderful surprise.   |

Yes Al all of the 2010 mint sets do contain the magnectic.But did any slip into cirulation? |

Oh I forgot.Yes I do have this same set.Besides this "special edition"set,I have the "regular uncirculated"set.(Both have the magnetic cent).

Thats a good question. Collectors finding them in change are the lucky ones or those that are truly dedicated and search through everything possible.
