-thanks 'hfjacinto.' I had just won a 25 Pound note from Syria featuring the Bosra Amphitheatre (a World Unesco heritage site) from a lowball bid & thought this 1 would complement it.

I didn't expect my soft bid to win the Yemen first issued Rial (such a lofty grade) but it did so kind of a nice surprise nobody else seemed interested. It looks much cooler to behold in person as the pink hues, watermark & under print show much nicer than from the scan (sort of like those little St. Pierre et Miquelon notes).

The majority of the world's banknotes are printed without a date "ND." Read the 2nd line on the PCGS holder:
"Pick# 1a ND(1964) 1 Rial Sign 1"
They know the note is from 1964 from the serial number prefix.
The prefix is 1/13 & serial number: 468467
You can find the "Standard International Numeral Systems" chart on page 16 of your SCWPM to decipher Serial numbers. In fact, you can find a treasure trove of useful tools between pages 10 ("How to use this catalog;" the "Hejira Date Conversion Chart" (19) "International Months" (23) to "Security Devices" & page 24 of your SCWPM. Unfortunately, many users just examine one or two countries, find fault with the images (typos, etc) but don't examine the other chapters & useful info found in other parts of the catalog. Even more regrettable are the large number of world collectors who forsake the book for the internet, losing sight of more info than they could imagine.

I have had a nice little buy in of my favourite area - The Pacific. Those on the Fiji thread have seen these 2.



2007 Fijian $2 note, their last one - Series D in my classifications. Interesting too as it shows a "mohar" an Indian coin ornament worn in the nose.



$5 note, Series E 2017 - now with Ali signature. First note in polymer for them ($50 was 2020) and this shows the same scenes as old $5 except the Queen is replaced by a parrot. The colour is green as the $2 note was gone and the new $100 was a brown/yellow colour that was similar to the old $5 note.
