@walk2dwater is right, they were issued in stapled books or bundles. The 1 rupee note has been obselete really for many years, I've collected about 16 of them now from different issue years, earliest I have is that 1957 one. India still print the notes, the latest one I have is from 2017 & except for a sad collector point of view (like me  they are not really worth the paper they are printed on unless you look at the pre-independence King George 1 rupee notes which are very collectable. |

Ah, thanks. Since they are obsolete, I assume the newer rupee notes (i.e., your 2017) are intended for collectors and probably do not have the pin holes?

@CelticKnot.They don't have pinholes, the newer notes,very smooth paper, the older ones have a better feel about them. A look at recent currency rates makes 1 Indian rupee worth around £0.01132. I've seen Replacement 1 rupee notes, they have a * ahead of the serial number, for sale on the ebay. This makes me want to buy more of them |
