I found a 1976 10 pesos coin from mexico while roll searching halfs.

It only weighs 9.88 grams as opposed to the normal 13.96 grams and its almost half the thickness of a normal 10 pesos coin- its a little over 1mm thick and it should be 2.30mm thick.

These are cupro-nickel, would wear and tear etc reduce this coin in size this great?

* I compared it with a 1979 10 pesos coin I also found.*

I know next to nothing about foreign coins, any info on this is appreciated.

The book says there are two types of 10 pesos -
"thin flan, 1.6 mm, 1974-77" and "thick flan, 2.3 mm, 1978-85".
