Hello,

I read on the Mint's website yesterday that no ASE Proofs will be made with 2009 and possibly 2010 on them. Does this mean there will be a "hole" in my collection? Also how do I subscribe to the ASE program on the Mint's website?

Thanks,
Rich

Once you set up your account with them......just click on "subscriptions" on the lower left column of the main page. It will list the subscriptions available......choose the ASE.....then how many you want.....and add to cart.....check out.......then you're done !

Yes, there were no 2009 Proofs minted. The Proofs for 2010 are expected to resume production though.....but you just never know with the U.S. Mint.
The reason they didn't mint the '09's was because they made so many bullion ASE's for 2009. So, all you can do, as far as "filling a hole" is get "that" one. It's not the burnished Uncirculated ASE or the Proof.....it's the bullion which is only sold to "dealers" outlets from the Mint. Then the public can buy them from these dealers. (basically "every" coin shop or coin magazine has these 2009's for sale)
I landed a "certified/slabbed/graded MS69 2009 ASE for $23.00. (mine is not "raw"..."raw" would be much cheaper) Which might still be a little high, but it included "free" shipping....and a 10x magnifier loupe...and a "precious metal newsletter". (I've still not had any salesmen calling me yet either)
I'm happy that I have a 2009 ASE P.E.R.O.I.D. the way I look at it !
And they made so many of them.......I thought, why not purchase one, at the very least, that is "graded" & "slabbed" NGC certified MS69 right ? .....why settle for a "run of the mill" raw bullion that might not even get a MS65 eyeball grade.
If one is just interested in buying bullion silver for future cash.....then yeah....they might want to just get a "Monster" box from a dealer right from the mint.
