Can someone please explain to me why it take so many years for the final mintage to be release on most modern U.S. coins, right now you have to go back to about 2004 to get the most recent mintage figures. Thanks

Thanks for this, since I was also looking for the same information as well.

Now, I just have to wait a few months(based on the last time they updated the current page which only goes to 2008) for The Royal Mint in the UK to release their figures.

I'm sorry, I should have posed my question in another way but I couldn't figure out how to go back and edit it once I posted it. What I really meant to say was why don't they have final mintages for coins such as the proof silver State Quarters any more recent than 2002, or proof sets more recent than 2004, and there are more examples. I'm looking at the most current issue of Coin Prices magazine and many recent years are missing final mintages. Why would it take so long to publish these mintages, surely the U.S.Mint knows how many they made! Thanks

That is not the problem of the US Mint, the figures are released on an annual basis in the same year of mintage. That is a problem with Coin Prices magazine. Even my old 2009 edition Redbook(published in 2008) has mintages through 2006. There is really no excuse for Coin Prices magazine to not have up-to-date mintage figures because they are certainly available. I have a subscription to Numismatics News and it has a weekly column titled Mint Stats that gives all of the latest mintages http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis...ticleId=9312
