Is the 2009 American Buffalo One Ounce Gold Proof Coin from the US mint worth the premium it is being sold for? I am thinking of purchasing the 2009 American Buffalo coin from the US mint, or a 2010 American Gold Eagle (from a dealer, because the mint will not sell to individuals) and I am wondering what your opinion is on what the better value is. The dealer I have visited before does not provide certification for his coins. Would owning the American Buffalo for the price of $1,410.00 be a better buy?http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...49&langId=-1

Also they have not updated the website with the "correct price" of the coin according to their table on what the coin should cost with the spot price below $1100. Would I have to wait for them to upgrade the price of the coin to get the better price?

Thanks,

Joe

Prices are updated once a week so wait a bit and hope the spot price stays below $1100 for a few days.

You can buy proof $50 Buffalos for a lot less if you will take an older date. I haven't looked this week but imagine $1250-$1300 could buy you a certified PF69DCAM or raw piece with original gov't packaging (OGP).

I usually do not have any patience, but I didn't want to pay the extra $50.

The only time I seem to have patience is when I'm out of money and that's when all the good deals pop up!
