I've bought British coins for a very long time and recently I stated putting together a sort of type set by denomination from about 1800 to 1970. Well alone the way I bought a coin from India just to see what it was like while under Britain's control and I was shocked at how small it is. That said, this coin has nice detail and some nice toning that didn't show up to well in my scanner. The toning is actually a medium gold toning that looks very dark in the image when I scanned it.
Two annas was a 1/8 of a rupee. I don't know what the exchange was with the British money at the time (Sap must know, in another thread he quoted 1 rupee = 18 pence during WWII). So, your coin would be equivalent to 2 - 3 pence, and its size is comparable to those.
Yeah, 3 pence was a small coin and the 2 annas is about the same size as this! I think silver content was supposed to have something to do with the size at one point!
