Question About 2008 Proof Sets - Coin Community Forum

coretj Valued Member United States 436 Posts	Posted 01/25/2010 01:37 am I was thinking about getting one, because I didn't when I should have and the RedBook has their value at $30 but on ebay I typically see them for 2-3 times that for the Clad 14 piece set.... Quote: THIS PROOF SET SOLD OUT AT THE US MINT MONTHS EARLIER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE. THE PRICE IS GOING UP VERY FAST DUE TO THE LOW NUMBER THAT WAS MINTED. THIS SET SHOULD BE A VERY GOOD INVESTMENT, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT HAS BECOME THE CLAD PROOFS #1 KEY DATE SET FOR THE US MINT PROOF SETS THAT INCLUDE THE State Quarters. 2008 WAS THE LAST YEAR FOR MINTING THE State Quarters. DNA Pillar of the Community United States 2734 Posts	Posted 01/25/2010 11:53 pm The 2008 Clad Proof Sets had a price spike because they sold out at the Mint before the end of calendar year 2008. Ironically, the Mint had the 2008 Silver Proof Sets available until July 2009! I like my Proof Sets in Silver, I didn't get a modern Clad Set until 2009... Report this Post to the Staff

I usually just buy the silver sets, didn't realize the demand for these had made the price jump so high.
