I just looked at the pics of this new upcoming issue from the US mint, I am a disabled vet and was interested to see the coin, have mixed feelings about it; overall I don't like it very much.

anyone share my opinion or do you think it is a winner?

I think the design is better than the Boy Scout coin but sadly both silver dollar commerative coins this year suffer from poor design. Maybe they will look better in hand but I don't think so.

I am still planning on buying the disabled vet coin.

I think the best design this year is on the reverse of the Native American dollar coin.

I really like the idea of having a coin for disabled vets, but just from the drawing of the coin I am not crazy about it. But I have thought this in the past and did not order some of the commemorative coins, then once I saw the coin kicked myself for not buying. So I will buy this coin and the Boy Scout dollars.

I am a vet .. but not disabled .. thank all you disabled vets for your service.

"Take this moment to honor our disabled defenders of freedom" is read on the reverse of 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar. Thank you!

I'm collecting the whole set of Modern Commemorative coins in both proof and MS grades so I will buy both this year. I like the Disabled Veteran Coin design and as a Vietnam vet (not disabled) I would buy it whether I like the design or not but the good thing is I kind of like the design. Of course the real test is when you have it in front of you. I don't like the Boy Scout design at all but will buy them to keep the set up to date.

I would have favored a design that incorporates the Purple Heart (for those with physical wounds) and the Greek Psy symbol (it looks like a capital you with a mark inside the you projecting below...sorry can't describe it better) for those vets who are disabled due to psychological wounds.

I will still buy the vet coin though, maybe more than one.

I like the design and think I will buy a proof for my collection. Does anyone know the date of issue and cost?

I like the look of the coin and will definately get one. I'm a vet (not disabled) and truly appreciate the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have made. My hat is off to those who have been disabled, both physically and emotionally, in the line of duty.

I also will buy the DV coin, in fact both mints. It's sad that our government didn't put (or someone) didn't put more thought or should I say "their hearts", into a good well deserving design for our men&woman in uniform. I'm a NV Vet and I praise our military as we all should.

I think the design is just OK, and could have been improved, but they'll never satisfy all of us. I too am a Vet (21.5 yrs), but fortunately, not disabled. Too all of my brothers and sisters who are, know that I think of you daily, and am thrilled that some of the $$ raised with this coin will go to programs to benefit those who need it.

Only showing the lower leg is weak. Many disabled Vets have injuries above the knees. I think a better design would have been two military medics carrying an injured comrade on a stretcher with the inscription "THEY CARRIED US"
