What kind of grade would you give Him?There are very few nicks. The most notable are two side by side on his head.It has more of a Gold tone than Silver tone. The color in the Scan is pretty accurate. It looks alot better in hand.also it has that cartwheel effect.I'm pretty sure this is just a weak strike instead of wear. How does a weak strike affect the grade?Any thoughts appreciated

I would have no problem grading this quarter MS-64, the bag mark at the top of the head is really the only distracting mark while everything else is minor. This is a late die state coin so it is not very sharp(that will keep it out of the gem grades) but 64 is still nice.

Is that a die crack running along the eagle's wing? It would be a pretty cool one if so. I'd also have to go with MS-64 since it is weakly struck. That's a perfect of example of "buy the coin, not the holder" since I'd rather have a well struck 64 that's a little more baggy than a poorly struck one with few contact marks.

Good eye Gothic Florin
Yes it is a Die crack,Runs from the N down to the end of the wing.It might add a couple of dollars to the value to the right person I think

A die crack on the west wing may be the most commonly found in the series along with base of bust and forehead/hair die cracks. These are EXTREMELY common and more so than anything else, are used as variety identifiers. I have never heard of anyone paying more for them.

Sorry Jasper, I can be bubble burstingly blunt. Gothic hurt my feelings a little when he said "That's a perfect of example of "buy the coin, not the holder." If someone speaks of a Washington in this tone they (IMO) had better realize there is nothing "pretty cool" about die cracks in the series.

Well, Jesse, since I'm not familiar with the die crack in this particular series it was pretty cool to ME. I believe I'm entitled to my own opinion as to what type of coin I would like to buy. I don't think the coin is pleasing since it isn't well struck. I'd rather have a well struck one.
