My 2010 cent is non-magnetic. Wasn't aware there were magnetic versions.

I roll hunt and have yet to find a 2010 magnetic. Can anyone confirm that they exist in circulation?

Somebody mentioned tht they thought the magnetic variety was only available in proof sets. Can't confirm as I don't have one.

If there is one out there I will find it. I have already found 2 2006 no mint mark magnetics in the last 3 months in AU and MS rolls.

I bought 8 rolls of pennies from my bank last week, in SE BC, a real mix of dates but quite a few 2009 and a lesser number of 2010 all with L (Logo)
Only ONE magnetic 2010 with Logo.
Only ONE non-magnetic 2009 with Logo.
I swear I am so confused trying to sort, learn and get all the marks, metals, and years straight in my head and organized separately by dates and types. And I've yet to check most of the pennies individually. This is work!! But I'm enjoying it!

So it seems that there are 2010 magnetic cents in circulation.

I'll ask at the RCM Ottawa tomorrow if they're minting 2010 steel cents (business strikes). Maybe they'll know if/when the zinc mountain will run out!

You have to be carefull when checking and apply the magnet to every coin as a non magnetic between 2 magnetic pieces will remain undetected.I also checked 1000's and never found a 2010 magnetic yet.But kinds exist in circulation issue for 2009.

I mentioned last night in another thread that I was either mistaken about finding a 2010 L magnetic or else I lost track of it in all the pennies I rechecked all the 2010's I had sorted, individually, and they were ALL non-magnetic! So I don't know if I steered you wrong or actually had and lost the one I thought I had, or was mistaken and had another year by mistake. Sorry if I blew it (which I don't know if I did). IF I do find a magnetic one in future I'll let you all know. I have seen it listed that the 2010 L's were minted both mag and non-mag though!! CDCoinman, thanks for posting about being careful to check individually. Makes sense. What I've been doing is having all the pennies laying flat and separated then running the magnet slightly above and over each and every one of them to save time with so many pennies. I prefer to touch the flat edge of the coin to the magnet though as the coins literally jump off the table to the magnet, its so strong. I worry about it leaving marks on the coins.

No worries Dottir. Keep us updated. They may exist, but if there is no solid proof soon, either via the mint or from someone on this forum, I am going to stop looking.

We know they exist, we just don't know if there are any in circulation.
