I got the coin today in the mail and the seller was nice enough to include 2 of the coins! Nice bonus! Both bare the mint logo.

This coin isn't hard to find magnetic or not.

Well though getting Canadian cons in my change here in Michigan is common, its uncommon getting BU examples from circulation here.

Congrats, it is nice to get a sample this early. The only magnetic 2010 cent so far is from the proof-like set. I think it is a bit early to be saying how easy it is to find both mag and non-mag. Let's see what the RCM does in the next 11 months

I think we should look for both mag and not back to 1997 are they in all 10 years?

I found 3 2010 1-cent in my changes. All non-magnetic. So, agree for now, magnetic seems rarer than non-mag.

I can confirm, at least in my 2010 PL set that the cent is magnetic. So this leaves me to wonder if the magnetic cent will just be in PL sets or be in circulation along with its non-magnetic counterpart?

Can anyone confirm if the magnetic cent is only available via PL sets? I ask because I see an abundance of the 2010 non-magnetic variety on ebay but the magnetic one is nowhere to be seen on ebay.

I just found my first 2010 cent in circulation ... okay, it was found on the ground (sidewalk) ... it is non-magnetic.

It's defintely the magnetic that's hard to find. I've been through too many 2010's to count and they're all non-mag.

Hopefully, my question does not sound too stupid, however, I am new to Canadian coins.
---the non magnetic 1 Cent pieces are the ones made from zinc with copper plating
---the magnetic 1 Cent pieces are the ones made from steal/nickel with copper plating
---or is it something different altogether?
And a bit off topic, still based on being new to Canadian coins and the terminology used by Canadian/American collectors: What is a PL set?

Quote: And a bit off topic, still based on being new to Canadian coins and the terminology used by Canadian/American collectors: What is a PL set? PL stands for Proof Like...in sets it is also know as an uncirculated set though the following link refers to silver dollars it does describe PL http://www.coinscan.com/silverd/page45.html
