Just curious as to what the premium of this type of error coin is?
I enjoy collecting Lincoln coins and thought about picking up one of the more common recent errors from the 2009 cents. I just didn't know what to expect to pay. I have seen them on ebay and coin shops for $5 up to $20 or more so I wanted to get some opinions as to whether or not that is a fair range. Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.

Are you talking about an LP2 Formative Years DDR? There are a bunch of them with varying values, some are stronger than others and the strongest ones are worth the most. Grade also plays a big role in the value as well.

Yes, I was talking about the double thumb on the formative years cent. What would one expect to pay for that one on an average uncirculated cent

Like I said, there are about two dozen of them and they vary in price depending on the strength of the doubling, one value does not apply to all.

wow really?! 2 dozen different DD? I assume then that the double thumb is just one of the DD varieties and the doubled thumbs have different looks depending on how much doubling is noted and how hard they were struck? Which varieties are the more rare ones and which ones are more common to find? Is there a good website to find out some more about these. I would like to get 1 or 2 just to have some variety in the new lincoln coins but am not sure what to look for.

search for the 2009 varieties at http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php, most of the nicer LP2s are from Philly
