put a $100 bid on this coin? It is NOT struck on a cent planchet! Again, I get much of my humor from ebay. looks like it was found with a metal detector. It has that color.

Well the accoutn which bid has 0 feedback, and this guy is certainly a crook. SO it seems obvious or atleast likley that it is the sellers other account....

You can see traces of the nickel shining through on the rim, along the last "T" in TRUST.

I know this an old thread but in my opinion that coin was copper electroplated using slightly too much current. I'd say 12v in a low saturated bath will give that texture on a nickel. buyer left the following feedback "This guy is great ! total trust, his word is gold, BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!

It looks to me to be environmental damage.
US "nickels" are after all 75% copper, which can tone under the right conditions.
