I found an interesting token in my coins. front reads, Trade and Agriculture, Lower Canada, surrounding a bunch of flowers. Back reads, Bank of Montreal Token, surrounding a wreath. Inside wreath, Un Sous. Good condition, the N in Un is slightly off center apparently from a crack in the die. By good condition I mean it does have some wear but not excessive, if you know what I mean. Any value? davep.

I did a little research on google and this sounds like a trade token issued by the Bank of Montreal in the 1830's. So, I went on ebay and found an example of what it sounds like you are talking about.

I hope that helps,
Matt

davep,

with the above!

What you need to know about these is there are dozens of different varieties, some of them worth a good amount of money. I used to collect these when I was much younger; still have most of them! There is a book called the Charlton Catalog of Canadian Colonial Tokens; this would be able to give you much more information. OR.....you can post good photos of both sides of the coin and there are many on CCF here that would be able to tell you exactly which one that you have. Good Luck!
