The 12 sided dodecagonal 50 cents coin is something that has been bothering me as I cannot photoshop it to my satisfaction. The reason why I am doing this is I want to make a digital album like the following:

Warning: it's about 300kb.

When I try to crop a circle, there's still some ugly background left around the edge.

Thought someone here might know a better solution.

Cheers

I'm no photoshop expert, but have you tried using the magic lasso? It allows you to crop around shapes better than the fixed circle tool.

So you're trying to crop around a 12-sided coin? In Photoshop, I would try the polygonal lasso tool to select the shape, then create a mask. By using the mask, you can fix any problems with the initial selection and get it perfect. If you're still stumped, shoot me an email and I'll do an example to drop into your album. This stuff is quick for me.
